Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Twenty-Four Hour Flu

It happens without warning. One day you’re feeling great and the next you feel like you just got ran over by a bus. I can’t stand being sick. I’ve been sick way too often way too much. But yesterday was the topper.

I tried to get to bed at a decent hour, right around midnight. I was a little sluggish so I set my alarm to go off at 8:30am. By 6am I was feeling achy and cold all over. My head felt like there was a vice squeezing it. I had zero energy and didn’t want to move. But, since my radio station has a small staff, I manned up and went into work anyway. It did not go well for me. Zombies from “The Walking Dead” TV show could’ve moved faster than me. It was rough.

Then it got interesting. Once I got home, slugged some DayQuil with an aspirin chaser, I started to sweat. And I mean a lot. I took my temperature and it was at 103. Dang. A couple hours and two changes out of sweaty clothes later, my fever was down to 101. This morning, my temp was about 99 and all that achy feeling stuff was gone. Nothing more than a 24 hour bug. I’ve had that before but you hate when it happens. It messes up the flow of your day.

I was afraid that being sick was also going to mess up my weekly check-in at Medithin. Last time I was sick I gained about four pounds. Illness screws with your system so bad you don’t know what’s going on. This time I was at a loss. A loss of 2.4 pounds and a total of 22.8 pounds. I really hope that this will be the last time I get sick for a long, long time. I do have a life to lead, you know!l over. My head felt like
